A new form for every flight into the US
A CDC order applies to all flights that leave a foreign country for the United States at or after 11:59 pm EST on 3 November, and business and general aviation are included. Every person on board, crew too, must sign an attestation that they have not been in the Democratic Republic of Congo in the previous 21 days, and the operator must keep the attestations for at least 42 days. For a charter client this is one more document before departure. Your operator will ask for it with the passenger details, so collect an answer from every traveller early and avoid a delay at the FBO.
Aspen: higher fees, shorter season in 2027
Aspen/Pitkin County Airport (ASE) has proposed raising general aviation landing fees about 140% for 2027, from $13.76 to $33.09 per 1,000 lb of aircraft weight. The runway is due to close from 4 April to 19 November 2027 for reconstruction. Commissioners hold a public hearing on 4 November, and approved rates would apply from 1 January 2027. This winter’s ski trips are not affected by the closure, but any quote for a landing after New Year should use the new rate if it passes. The fee is charged by weight, so the larger the jet, the bigger the change.
Better Wi-Fi over the United States
Viasat has made five times more satellite capacity available across the United States to JetXP customers with Honeywell JetWave terminals, through a software update. JetXP is active on more than 2,100 aircraft worldwide. New service tiers start on 1 January 2027, with an unlimited plan from below $11,000 a month. In Viasat’s annual survey with Corporate Jet Investor, 48% of aircraft owners and principal users named reliability as their top connectivity priority, and 70% put coverage in their top three, ahead of speed. If you need to work on board, ask which connectivity system the aircraft has before you book.
